From 1998 until 2001 he marched Mellophone with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps, formerly of Newark, DE, and then was the assistant director of Drum Corps Operations in 2002. He has been a band director at the Middle School level since 2003, where he brought music education to two different Title 1 schools whose bands earned multiple superior awards at festivals, proving that excellence is a state of mind and not a state of budget. Douglas is regularly seen on stage with Center Stage Productions of Aston, PA, a theater troupe where he has not only played roles such as Tevye (Fiddler on the Roof) and Oliver Warbucks (Annie: The Musical), but he has performed in multiple pit orchestras as principal brass musician, and recently directed a highly acclaimed production of Wizard of Oz. Douglas has orchestrated multiple musicals for Pioneer Drama Service of Colorado, an organization dedicated to providing quality theater librettos to schools with minimal budgets. Douglas believes that band music should be skill level appropriate to be achievable with excellence but also instill a desire to be performed by students of all abilities, and he is excited to be a part of the CWJ Music House team where the musical compositions perfectly fit that bill.
