J. FERDINAND HÉROLD (1791-1833); Arr. by Casimir V. Bork, Jr.
Zampa, ou Le Fiancée de Marber (Zampa, or the Marble Bride) first performed in Paris in 1831, was a three act opera comique. It was French composer Louis Joseph Ferdinand Herold’s (1791-1833) most famous work and the overture is a standard of orchestral repertoire. In editing and working with this piece there were two main concert band arrangements were used as sources: M. C. Meyrelles (1891) and V. F. Safranek (1912). This edition incorporates the two early arrangements into a modern symphonic band format, giving ensemble members a rewarding challenge. Conductors will appreciate the provided full score, rather than the condensed score of past editions. Take a chance on this highly-recommended classic this concert season!
