This piece starts with the "formation of the storm" through the addition of instruments from lower voices to higher voices. The storm begins to pick up as the harmonies become more abstract. As the storm finally shows its force the elements are portrayed through in the clarinets, alto saxophones, and horns. The wind, thunder, and lightning are accented in the remaining instruments. The storm rages on with the entrances of different instruments, this time starting with the higher voices and ending with the lower voices. The original theme returns, but the storm takes a slight turn with the addition of harmonies in the first flute and first trumpet parts. The storm makes one last surge leading to its final climax. Your performers will enjoy creating the storm for your audience to weather.
